Ohtani Homers in First Game Against Former Team: MLB Recap

Shohei Ohtani faces his former team for the first time and immediately makes an impact, plus everything else you missed from last night in the MLB.

Angels 3 Dodgers 2 

  • Ohtani goes two for two with a home run and two walks in his first game against his former team. Angels pitching holds the Dodgers to just five hits. Taylor Ward’s RBI single in the top of the tenth would lead the Angels to a win. 

Mets 11 Cubs 1  

  • The Mets score all eleven in the first four innings. Imanaga throws three innings and allows ten earned, the most he has allowed in thirteen MLB starts.

Tigers 2 White Sox 1 

  • A two-run shot from Carson Kelly in the second inning would be enough for Detroit. Jack Flaherty strikes out eight in five and two-thirds. 

Diamondbacks 5 Phillies 4  

  • The Diamondbacks jumped out to a four-nothing lead with three bombs in the first three innings. Jordan Montgomery holds the red-hot Phillies to two runs through six innings.

Rays 10 Pirates 3  

  • Rays collect seventeen hits on Pirates pitching. Joshua Lowe hits two home runs and drives in four runs.

Braves 8 Yankees 1 

  • Chris Sale picks up win number ten on the season with five strikeouts through five innings, while Yankees starter Carlos Rodin allows seven earned. Astros get homers from Albies, Olson, and Riley in the win. 

Guardians 7 Blue Jays 1  

  • Seven runs from the Guardians in the second blow this game open. Blue Jays pitching only allows five hits, but bats fail to get hot for Toronto.

Reds 5 Red Sox 2  

  • Five home runs in the first three innings from both teams. A Jeimer Candelario third-inning bomb, his second of the game, would be the winning run. Andrew Abbott strikes out ten Red Sox hitters in five and two-thirds.

Marlins 3 Mariners 2 

  • A two-run sixth from the Marlins tied the game before a Tim Anderson single in the tenth gave the Marlins their third walk-off victory in a row.

Rangers 6 Royals 2 

  • Rangers score five in the sixth to help propel them over the Royals. A bases-clearing double from Marcus Semien gave the Rangers a cushion. Nathan Eovaldi picks up win number four with six strikeouts in six innings.

Astros 14 Orioles 11  

  • The two teams put on a hitting clinic combining for thirty-two Four Astros had at least two RBIs. Gunnar Henderson hit two home runs but the O’s fall short in Houston.

Nationals 11 Rockies 5 

  • The Nats jumped Rockies starter Dakota Hudson, getting eleven hits and eight runs in three innings. Luis Garcia and Drew Millas both went deep to contribute to the win.

Athletics 6 Twins 5 

  • A three-run seventh by the Twins took the lead before a two-run shot from Shea Langeliers would put the A’s on top. Royce Lewis hits a homer for the third straight game. 

Padres 9 Brewers 5 

  • Jake Cronenworth had a career-high five hits, including a home run. The Padres score three in the seventh to pull away late. Luis Arraez also homers, his second of the year. Padres lost Tatis and Profar due to injuries during the game.
