The weekend series between the Oklahoma State Cowboys and West Virginia Mountaineers has yet to be played due to wildfires in Oklahoma.
Areas within the state affected include Stillwater, Oklahoma City, Norman, Guthrie, etc.
In total, 130 wildfires were reported across 44 different counties. Oklahoma Emergency Services reported approximately 200 homes had been lost across the state.
This weekend, the scenes outside of O’Brate Stadium had a hazy sky due to the smoke created by these fires. The air conditions made it unsafe for players, coaches, staff, and fans looking to attend the Cowboys’ games.
Oklahoma State is unsure about the status of Sunday’s baseball game. The wildfires also affected the softball and tennis matchups on campus.
The Oklahoma State athletic department has set up a donation site at the Stillwater Armory to help those affected by fires across Oklahoma.
World Baseball Network sends thoughts and prayers to Oklahoma State and the entire state of Oklahoma during this time.
