Ole Miss Pitcher Hunter Elliott Granted an Extra Year of Eligibility

On Wednesday, Ole Miss left-handed pitcher Hunter Elliott received another year of eligibility for the 2027 season, according to On3’s Jake Thompson.

Elliott is now a junior heading into the 2026 college baseball season for the Rebels.

The extra year of eligibility stems from Elliott missing most of the 2023 season and all of 2024 because of an elbow injury that required Tommy John surgery. Elliott also received a medical redshirt for the injury.

The extra year he earned in 2027 is essentially a make-up for his 2023 season, as worded by Thompson on Twitter.

Elliott and his Elite 2025 Season with Ole Miss

In 2025, Elliott had a 2.94 ERA and 102 strikeouts in 85 2/3 innings of work. He also allowed an opposing batting average of .197 and earned 10 wins while making 16 starts.

He had this top-notch season after being drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 20th round of the 2024 MLB Draft.

Elliott was a Rawlings Gold Glove winner in 2025. The National College Baseball Writers Association named him a third-team All-American.

He was also a part of the 2025 SEC All-Tournament team. The southpaw played a major role in leading Ole Miss to the SEC Tournament final against the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Heading into 2026, Elliott will be the starting rotation’s ace in Oxford and will be a major pitcher to watch in college baseball.

Up Next for Ole Miss

The Ole Miss Rebels will begin the 2026 college baseball season playing against the Nevada Wolfpack on February 13. The first pitch is at 5 p.m. EST.
