One Thing From Every Game 3 of the National League Division Series

There are a set of upsets on the horizon as the New York Mets and San Diego Padres have both taken 2-1 leads in the Division Series. Here’s everything you missed from Game 3 of each National League Division Series.

New York Mets 7, Philadelphia Phillies 2: The Phillies offense couldn’t get anything going until it was too late. Pete Alonso hit another opposite-field home run as he looks to have broken his slump. The Mets held a 6-0 lead heading into the eighth inning when the Phillies finally got two on the board. Francisco Lindor hit an RBI double to get one of those runs back. Sean Manaea was phenomenal for the Mets. He went seven innings, allowing just one run and striking out six.

San Diego Padres 6, Los Angeles Dodgers 5: This game saw all 11 runs scored by the end of the third inning. A six-run Padres second inning made it look like another blowout was coming, but a Teoscar Hernandez grand slam brought the Dodgers within one. However, the Padres pitching staff did not allow another run. Tanner Scott was tasked with facing Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman in the eighth inning. He retired Ohtani and Betts, but Freeman, the tying run, reached. Robert Suarez was called on and delivered by finishing the inning and the game. The Padres are now one win away from the National League Championship Series.
