 Nick Martin - World Baseball Network  |    Jun 23rd, 2024 11:08am EDT

Every night in the MLB, history has a chance to be broken. Here’s everything you missed from last night across the MLB.

White Sox 5 Tigers 1

  • White Sox pitching held the Tigers scoreless through seven innings. Drew Thorpe struck out five in six innings pitched to pick up his first MLB win.

Cardinals 9 Giants 4

  • Alec Burleson had his first career two-home run game and drove in five runs. The Giants strung together ten hits but only scored four runs.

Cubs 8 Mets 1

  • Five runs in the first inning by the Cubs would prove to be enough to get the win. Jameson Taillon strikes out ten hitters through seven innings, allowing just one run.

Rangers 6 Royals 0

  • A one-run shot from Josh Smith in the fourth would put the Rangers on top. A five-run eighth inning gave the defending champs a cushion to pull away with the win. Jon Gray allowed two hits over five innings pitched. Wyatt Langford contributes with a grand slam.

Phillies 12 Diamondbacks 1

  • Zack Wheeler continued his impressive start to the season, allowing one run on two hits through seven innings. He struck out eight. The Phillies put together fourteen hits. Harper, Bohm, and Castellanos all homered.

Pirates 4 Rays 3

  • A three-run third inning would be enough for the Pirates to hold off the Rays. Oniel Cruz hits a bomb into the Allegheny River. Jared Jones struck out eight and gave up two earned through seven full innings.

Twins 10 Athletics 2

  • Bailey Ober pitched his first career complete game, allowed two runs on four hits, and struck out ten A’s. The Twins scored seven in the second inning, including a Manuel Margot three-run homer.

Guardians 6 Blue Jays 3

  • The Guardians scored all six runs on home runs. Kwan and Ramirez contributed two of the four long balls. Kwan is hitting a league-best .390. Emmanuel Clase gets his 23 save.

Astros 5 Orioles 1

  • Romeo Blanco allowed the Orioles only run during seven innings of work. Chas McCormick hits two solo shots to propel the Astros to a win.

Red Sox 4 Reds 3

  • The Red Sox came back from three down and scored two in the eighth to take the lead. Rafael Devers drove in the winning run on a sac fly. Elly De La Cruz hit his thirteenth home run of the year in a losing effort.

Mariners 9 Marlins 0

  • Logan Gilbert pitched eight scoreless innings for Seattle, allowing just four hits. The Mariners picked up fifteen hits, including four from Dominic Canzone.

Yankees 8 Braves 3

  • The Yankees scored five runs on Braves starter Charlie Morton. Aaron Judge hit his league-leading twenty-eighth home run of the season. Marcus Stroman went six and two-thirds with six Ks and allowed three runs.

Padres 6 Brewers 4

  • The Padres scored all six runs via the long ball. Merrill, Kim, and Higashioka all went deep. The Brewers’ comeback fell short after they scored four in the ninth. Robert Suarez got his nineteenth save.

Rockies 8 National 7

  •  The Rockies win on a bases-loaded walk on a pitch-clock violation. The first game in MLB history decided by a pitch-clock violation. The Rockies scored two in the ninth to complete the comeback. Ryan McMahon walked to drive in the winning run. He also hit a homer in the eighth to bring the lead within one.

Dodgers 7 Angels 2

  • In Shohei Ohtani’s second game against his former team, he went one for four with a home run and a walk. It was his second homer against his former team and the third straight game with a deep ball. Tyler Glasnow shut down the Angels offense allowing one run through seven innings of work and striking out ten.
