The Yankees and Dodgers had champagne celebrations as they now shift their focus to the postseason. Here’s everything you missed from last night’s MLB action.
New York Yankees 10, Baltimore Orioles 1 – Aaron Judge hit his 58th home run of the season as the Yankees clinched the American League East. He needs two more home runs in his last three games to be the third player ever with multiple 60 homer seasons.
Milwaukee Brewers 5, Pittsburgh Pirates 2 – Aaron Civale went six scoreless innings with five strikeouts. The Brewers offense collected six extra-base hits and four stolen bases.
Detroit Tigers 4, Tampa Bay Rays 3 – With another Twins loss, the Tigers’ magic number is down to one. A two-run eighth inning to take the lead has them on the cusp of a postseason berth.
Kansas City Royals 7, Washington Nationals 4 – The Royals, tied with the Tigers for the second AL Wild Card, also need just one win or a Twins loss to clinch a postseason spot. They finished the sweep of the Nationals as they head to Atlanta for the final series of the year.
Chicago White Sox 7, Los Angeles Angels 0 – In a series where all eyes were on the White Sox to see if they’d losing their 121st game of the season, they responded with a sweep of the Angels. Chris Flexen threw 6 1/3 scoreless innings while picking up seven strikeouts in the win.
Miami Marlins 8, Minnesota Twins 6 – After a late-season collapse, the Twins need a miracle to play October baseball. The Marlins scored three runs in the top of the 13th inning to all but eliminate the Twins from the postseason.
Colorado Rockies 10, St. Louis Cardinals 8 – In a game that featured 26 hits and 18 runs, the Rockies’ five-run eighth inning was the decisive blow. Trailing by three runs, the Rockies scored five runs, all with two outs.
Oakland Athletics 3, Texas Rangers 2 – In the final game at the Coliseum, the A’s held off the Rangers. The score seemed obsolete in an emotional game for the city as the fans said goodbye to the franchise.
Los Angeles Dodgers 7, San Diego Padres 2 – The Dodgers clinched a division title, and at the center of it all was Shohei Ohtani. He delivered the go-ahead RBI in the seventh inning off of Tanner Scott.
