Men’s Baseball and Women’s Softball feature on the programme of the XII Pacific Mini Games, which will open on June 29 in Palau. Both the baseball and softball tournaments will start on Monday, June 30.
The Nippon Baseball Stadium in Koror will host the six-team Men’s Baseball tournament.
World No. 36 Guam, No. 64 Mariana Islands, No. 73 Palau, No. 78 Fiji, No. 83 Solomon Islands and Federated States of Micronesia will compete in the Opening Round, with the top four finishers advancing to the medal round.
Northern Mariana Islands won the 2022 edition. They defeated Guam in the final. Palau claimed the bronze medal. Men’s Baseball was part of the programme also in 2005.
World No. 64 American Samoa, the Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, Marshall Islands, Palau and Papua New Guinea will participate in the six-team Women‘s Softball tournament at the Meyuns Softball Field. After the Opening Round, the top four finishers will compete in the medal round.
Softball was on the programme only in the 2005 edition.
The Pacific Mini Games are a multi-sport event, serving as a scaled-down version of the Pacific Games. The event has been held every four years since the inaugural games in Honiara, Solomon Islands, in 1981. It was previously known as the South Pacific Mini Games.
New Caledonia is the all-time gold medal winner with 248.
Nine different Pacific Islands have hosted the Mini Games across four countries and five territories. Only the Cook Islands and Vanuatu have hosted the event twice, with Palau set to host it for the second time in 2025.
