Freddy Peralta allowed one hit and struck out six batters and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs 7-0.
All-Star pitcher Peralta (15-5) shut Chicago out over six innings to help Milwaukee advance to an MLB-best record of 79-45. The Brewers, which had their franchise-record 14-game winning streak snapped by the Reds on Sunday, have won 23 of 28 games since the break.
Brice Turang and Caleb Durbin each had two hits, two RBIs and a solo home run to lead the way. Milwaukee’s Abner Uribe, Jared Koenig and Grant Anderson held Chicago to one combined hit over the final three innings of relief.
The Brewers attacked Cubs pitcher Cade Horton (7-4) early. After Turang’s homer in the third, Horton allowed three of the next four batters to reach base and was with a blister on his right middle finger. Reliever Drew Pomeranz retired the ensuing batter to escape the inning with a one-run deficit.

DETROIT (AP) — Jack Flaherty struck out nine batters in seven scoreless innings and Detroit went on to beat Houston Astros.
Wenceel Pérez, Riley Greene, Trey Sweeney and Colt Keith homered for the Tigers, who were coming off a 5-2 road trip.
Flaherty (7-12) allowed three hits and a walk to win for the second time in 12 starts. Former closer Alex Lange, who underwent lat surgery last season, pitched the ninth — his first MLB appearance since May 22, 2024.
Spencer Arrighetti (1-4) gave up five runs on seven hits and four walks in five innings.
PIRATES 5, BLUE JAYS 2
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Paul Skenes kept the American League’s top team in relative check for six innings and Pittsburgh took advantage of some sloppy play by Toronto Blue to pull away for a victory.
Skenes bounced back from a rare shaky performance in his previous start to limit the American League-leading Blue Jays to two runs over six innings. The burly 23-year-old struck out eight against one walk as his ERA ticked up to 2.16.
Evan Sisk (1-1) picked up his first big league victory with a scoreless seventh. Dennis Santana worked the ninth for his eighth save as the Pirates won for just the second time in nine games.
Henry Davis doubled off Yariel Rodríguez (2-1) leading off the seventh, and scored on a wild pitch by Brendon Little to put Pittsburgh in front to stay. Spencer Horwitz, a former Toronto first baseman, had two hits for the Pirates.
PHILLIES 12, MARINERS 7
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Trea Turner had four hits, including his first home run at home this season, Bryce Harper homered twice and Philadelphia defeated Seattle.
Turner hit a three-run homer off Seattle starter Logan Gilbert (3-5) as part of a six-run second inning. Turner also had two singles and a double for his fifth straight multihit game. He finished with five RBIs.
Harper hit homers in back-to-back innings. His solo shot in the sixth marked the 11th time he’s had 20 home runs in a season. An inning later, his two-run homer off the second deck made it his 30th multihomer game.
J.T. Realmuto had three hits, including a home run, and the Phillies also got RBI hits from Kyle Schwarber, Max Kepler and Bryson Stott. All told, the Phillies got 21 hits.
Ranger Suárez (9-6) matched a career high with 10 strikeouts to earn the win. He pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits.
ORIOLES 6, RED SOX 3
BOSTON (AP) — Trevor Rogers took a shutout into the seventh inning, and Gunnar Henderson had a solo homer and an RBI to lead Baltimore to a victory over Boston.
Top Orioles prospect Samuel Basallo, who was the No. 8 prospect in all of baseball before he was called up for his major-league debut on Sunday, doubled off the Green Monster for his first extra-base hit and added a two-run single in the ninth. Ryan Mountcastle had three singles.
Boston starter Dustin May (7-9) allowed two runs on eight hits and two walks, striking out five in six innings to lose for the second time in three starts since he was acquired by Boston from the Dodgers at the trade deadline.
Boston cut it to 6-3 in the ninth on Jarren Duran’s two-out, two-run double. But Yennier Cano got Ceddanne Rafaela to hit a broken-bat grounder to third for the final out.
CARDINALS 8, MARLINS 3
MIAMI (AP) — Alec Burleson went 3 for 4, including the go-ahead single in the seventh inning, and St. Louis ended their five-game losing streak with a win against Miami.
Miami right fielder Dane Myers was unable to make a routine catch at the warning track in the seventh, which put a runner in scoring position for the Cardinals. Burleson’s RBI single sent Iván Herrera home for a 4-3 lead.
St. Louis added another run on a single by Pedro Pagés.
The Marlins were undone by two errors, three unearned runs, four wild pitches and five walks allowed.
