Late-game heroics by Brandon Marsh and Nick Castellanos gave the Phillies the win in game one over a division foe. Here’s everything you missed from yesterday in the MLB.

Phillies 5, Braves 4

  • Brandon Marsh hit a three-run homer in the sixth to bring the Phillies within one before Nick Castellanos hit a two-run home run an inning later to put Philadelphia on top. The Phillies won their fourth in the last five and beat Atlanta, who they lead by six games, in the first game of the four-game series.

Angels 3, Tigers 0

  • Rookie Jack Kochanowicz pitched six shutout innings allowing five hits, helped snap the Angels seven-game losing streak, and ended the Detroit seven-game winning streak. Mickey Moniak put the Angels on the board with an RBI double in the fourth inning. Zach Neto grew the lead an inning later with a two-run homer.

Rangers 2, White Sox 1

  • Corey Seager gave the Rangers the lead in the fourth with a solo home run, No. 200 in his career. Wyatt Langford drove in what proved to be the winning run on a ground out to third in the seventh inning. Texas finished the sweep of Chicago and made it seven straight losses for the worst team in the MLB.

Brewers 6, Giants 0

  • Aaron Civale allowed two hits across seven innings and struck out seven batters to help the Brewers win the series. Garrett Mitchell hit a solo homer in the second inning, all Milwaukee needed to win. The Brewers lead the Cubs by nine and a half in the NL Central, the largest division lead in the majors.

Cardinals 4, Padres 1

  • The Cardinals won the final two games of the series to earn a split over San Diego. Paul Goldschmidt hit an RBI double to finish a two-run third inning that gave St.Louis a lead.

Marlins 12, Rockies 8

  • Derek Hill homered twice, Kyle Stowers drove in four runs, and Miami earned a series sweep. The Marlins scored five runs in the fourth inning and took the lead in a high-scoring game in Colorado.

Mets 3, Diamondbacks 2

  • Jose Iglesias singled in the winning run in the ninth to give the Mets the series win over the NL’s top wild card team. David Peterson allowed two runs in seven innings of work for New York. The Mets tied the game in the sixth inning on a Francisco Lindor home run that set up Iglesias’ game-winner.

Reds 10, A’s 9

  • Cincinnati ended their three-game losing streak after scoring three runs in the ninth to rally past the A’s. TJ Friedl drove in the winning runs for the Reds with a two-RBI single that finished the comeback final inning.

Blue Jays 2, Red Sox 0

  • Bowden Francis allowed one Boston hit during his seven-inning outing and helped the Blue Jays close out the five-game series with a win. Vlad Guerrero drove in the winning run with a double in the third inning. The Red Sox are three and a half games out of the last AL wild-card spot.

Astros 6, Royals 3

  • Houston scored four runs in the eighth to take the first game of the series against the Royals. Yainer Diaz reached on an infield single to tie the game, which led to a Zach Dezenzo pinch-hit walk with the bases loaded to give the Astros the lead. The Astros have a four-game advantage atop the AL West, while Kansas City trails by one and a half games in the AL Central.

Dodgers 6, Orioles 3

  • The Dodgers finished their nine-game home stand 7-2 after taking the final two games of the interleague matchup. A three-run fourth inning was capped off with a Miguel Rojas RBI single that grew the Dodgers lead. Bobby Miller allowed three runs in five innings of work. The Orioles are one and a half games behind the Yankees.
