Playoff Tickets Punched: One Thing From Each MLB Game

 Aaliyan Mohammed - World Baseball Network  |    Sep 19th, 2024 10:00am EDT

The Brewers and Yankees punched their tickets to the postseason, while the Wild Card races continued to stay close. Here’s everything you missed from last night’s MLB action.

Milwaukee Brewers 2, Philadelphia Phillies 1

The Brewers had already clinched the division before they even took the field. However, a Jake Bauers walk-off single in the ninth inning officially started the celebration.

Los Angeles Dodgers 8, Miami Marlins 4

Shohei Ohtani got one step closer to his 50-50 season with his 49th stolen base. The Dodgers bounced back after a disappointing loss in game one.

San Francisco Giants 5, Baltimore Orioles 3

The Giants handed the Orioles their third straight loss. The top of the Orioles order went 2-12 as the offense couldn’t do enough against Hayden Birdsong.

Cleveland Guardians 5, Minnesota Twins 4

Both teams went back and forth scoring runs, but in extra innings, the Guardians came up big. Three RBI singles in the bottom of the tenth helped deliver a walk-off win. Brayan Rocchio came through with the final hit to give the Guardians a 5-4 win.

Atlanta Braves 7, Cincinnati Reds 1

The Braves did not gain any ground in the Wild Card race, but they did not lose any either. A ten-hit night powered a Braves win.

Boston Red Sox 2, Tampa Bay Rays 1

Warren Duran delivered an RBI single in the eighth inning to take the lead. The Rays offense couldn’t answer, setting up a rubber match.

New York Mets 10, Washington Nationals 0

The Mets offense scored ten runs for the second consecutive night. Luisangel Acuña went 2-4 at the plate and hit his second career home run.

Detroit Tigers 4, Kansas City Royals 2

The Tigers are now just half a game back of the Twins in the Wild Card race. Quietly, the Royals might now be in danger of losing their spot in the postseason after losing to Detroit for the second straight game.

Oakland Athletics 5, Chicago Cubs 3

The A’s won a back-and-forth game, but a two-run eighth inning was enough to get Mason Miller warming up. The Cubs were unable to answer and handed the Brewers the National League Central title before they even took the field.

St. Louis Cardinals 10, Pittsburgh Pirates 5

In a significantly higher-scoring affair, the Cardinals came out on top again. A six-run seventh inning was enough to clinch the win.

Texas Rangers 2, Toronto Blue Jays 0

After a 13-8 win, the Rangers won a very different game on Wednesday night. Cody Bradford went seven innings without allowing a run and striking out seven.

Arizona Diamondbacks 9, Colorado Rockies 4

A bounce-back win for the D-backs maintained their position in the Wild Card race. With just over a week left to play, they are trying to hold on to a postseason spot.

Los Angeles Angels 4, Chicago White Sox 3

The Angels walked off the White Sox in the 13th inning. In one of the longest games of the season, Jordyn Adams came through with a walk-off single to win it.

San Diego Padres 4, Houston Astros 0

The Padres shut the Astros out behind a great performance by Dylan Cease. He went 8 1/3 innings with five strikeouts. Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, and Donovan Solano hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning.

New York Yankees 2, Seattle Mariners 1

The Yankees plated one run in the top of the tenth inning from an Anthony Rizzo double. Austin Wells caught Julio Rodriguez off the third base bag in the bottom of the frame to complete a double play after Randy Arozarena struck out and sent his bat flying.
