The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum is at it again — and this one is already a collector’s item.
They’ve unveiled a brand-new bobblehead honoring Pope Leo, celebrating his Chicago roots in true Windy City style. The design is loaded with local flair: it features two Chicago dogs and a baseball with the Chicago flag.
The first batch sold out immediately, and a second batch is scheduled to ship in June 2026. Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 2025, making this an early, limited, city-specific collectible at a time when the Pope Leo bobblehead market is not yet flooded.
That’s the key distinction.
Bobbleheads are a common souvenir for tourists in Rome, and many more Pope Leo figures will surely follow in the coming months. But those are typically mass-produced, not numbered, and often lack any real theme or storytelling. This Chicago edition? It’s unique, intentional, and scarce.
Which leads to some creative opportunities for collectible companies …
If anyone in the collectibles space is looking for inspiration, the possibilities are wide open:
-
Pope Leo in a White Sox cap
-
Pope Leo in a Sox jersey (home, away, throwback variations)
-
Equipment editions: swinging a bat, holding a glove, throwing a pitch (especially after he eventually throws out a first pitch in Chicago)
-
Popemobile edition
-
Dual bobbleheads pairing Pope Leo with White Sox legends or active players
Early adopters win in collectibles, and right now, this niche is just getting started.
