Cuba appeared in both Premier12 tournaments in 2015 and 2019, and they will be hoping for better results this time around. They made it to the Super Round in 2015 but were knocked out by South Korea, who ended up becoming Premier12 champions.
They’ve added more talent to their roster from years prior, as Livan Moinelo will look to lead Cuba’s rotation. He made the move to becoming a starting pitcher before the 2023 season and has not skipped a beat. Raidel Martinez will look to serve as Cuba’s closer after posting strong numbers in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB).
After announcing he would miss the tournament, Yoan Moncada will indeed suit up for Cuba when they take the field for their first game. Moncada is now a free agent after playing in just 12 games with the Chicago White Sox in 2024.
Their journey in the Premier12 will begin at Taipei Tianmu Stadium in Taipei, Taiwan. Cuba will be facing the Dominican Republic at 5:30 AM EST.
