As Premier12 group play is now behind us, the attendance in both pools was unique. Pool A was held in Mexico, while Pool B played its games in Taiwan. Here are some of the attendance numbers throughout the past week of competition.
For all 15 games of Group A, a total of 60,264 fans were in attendance for all games held in Guadalajara and Tepic, Mexico. Average attendance averaged 4,018. The highest-attended game in Group A was Mexico against Venezuela, which drew 9,758 fans to the ballpark. The lowest attendance was a significantly low 239 fans for the Netherlands-Venezuela game.
Another interesting fact is that all of Mexico’s games were very well attended. For all five games, 26.578 fans attended the action, and the average attendance was 5,316.
The numbers for Group B are astoundingly different. The total number of fans who attended Premier12 for all 15 games in Taiwan was 232,414, and the average attendance was 15,494. The highest-attending game was Korea’s match against Taiwan, which saw 39,000 fans attend. The lowest-attending game in Premier12 was the Dominican Republic’s match against Cuba, which only attracted 255 fans.
Chinese Taipei was a popular team heading into the event, as Taiwan served as a host city for the third time in Premier12 history. The total number of fans in attendance for their games was 163,972. The average attendance was 32.794.
It will truly be fascinating to see which numbers from here could get shattered as the Super Round will get underway on Wednesday. The Super Round will be played at the Tokyo Dome in Japan. The final day of Premier12 is slated for November 24, when a champion will be crowned.
