Puerto Rico Double-A League postseason to open on Thursday, May 29

The 2025 Puerto Rico Superior Double-A League postseason will open on Thursday, May 29, when the defending champions Florida Titanes take on the Hatillo Tigres in the first Northern Division semifinal.

Hatillo, Florida the Utuado Montañeses and the Camuy Arenosos qualified in the Northern Division. Hatillo won the Division for the first time.

Plata de Comerío Pescadores, Albonito Polluelos, Cayey Toritos and Caguas Criollos qualified out of the Central Division. The Pescadores won the Division for the first time since 2013, while the Criollos qualified for the first postseason since returning to the league in 2023.

Salinas Peces Voladores, Cidra Bravos, Santa Isabel Potros and Coamo Maratonistas qualified out of the Southern Division. Cidra, the fifth-place team in the Central Division, defeated the Guayama Brujos, the fourth-place team in the Southern Division, in a one-game playoff, taking advantage of a new rule forcing a one-game playoff between the fourth-place team and the fifth-place team of the Divisions that played in the inter-division round if the fifth-place team shows a better record at the end of the regular season.

The Yabucoa Azucareros, the 2024 runner-up, led the Southeastern Division ahead of Humacao Grises, Patilla Leones and San Lorenzo Samaritanos.

The Southwestern Division teams are Lajas Cardenales, Peñuelas Petroleros, Cabo Rojo Piratas and Sabana Grande Petateros.

Rio Grande Guerrillero, Las Piedras Artesanos, Fajardo Cariduros and Juncos Mulos qualified out of the Eastern Division.

The Guaynabo Mets won the Metro Division for the fourth consecutive time and qualified with Dorado Guardianes, Cataño Lancheros and Vega Baja Melao Melao. Vega Baja advanced to the postseason for the first time in 13 years.

The Northeaster Division teams are San Sebastian Patrulleros, Hormigueros Libertadores, Añasco Fundadores and Aguadilla Tiburones. The Petrullelors celebrated their first Division title since 2016.

The first round of the best-of-five Division semifinals will take place over the entire weekend, with 16 games scheduled for Friday, May 30, Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1.

In the semifinals, the Division winners will play the fourth-place teams, while the second and third-place finishers will play in the other series. The winners will compete in the best-of-seven Division Finals.

The eight Divisional Champions will advance to the Carnival of Champions (Carnaval de Campeones), a seven-game round robin. The top four finishers of the Carnival of Champions will compete in the National semifinals, and the winners will play for the title in the Championship Final. The semifinals and finals will be best-of-seven series.

The Superior Double-A League is the top-level competition organised by the Puerto Rican Baseball Federation (FBPR).

FBPR honoured Edison Mora as the 2025 batting champion. The 24-year-old Guayama Brujos outfielder posted a .427 batting average. Mora was the 2024 Rookie of the Year.
