Prado was a well-regarded high school recruit. According to Perfect Game, he was one of the top ten outfielders in the 2023 class from Puerto Rico. He was also ranked in the top 25 in the 2023 class overall.
He played for the Amarillo College Badgers in 2024 and put on a batting clinic. He had a 387 batting average, an on-base percentage of .450, and 33 RBIs.
Oklahoma added other JUCO transfers, including Luis Catillo (Western Oklahoma State College) and Brendan Brock (Southwestern Illinois Junior College), along with Prado.
The Sooners had the top offense in the Big 12 in 2024, leading the league in team batting average. As they make the transition into the SEC next season, head coach Skip Johnson wants to capitalize on talent wherever he can find it.
Prado’s prowess as a hitter during his JUCO stent is a part of this. Oklahoma may have found a diamond in the rough with the Puerto Rican outfielder. He now has his shot to put on a great career in Norman, playing at college baseball’s best conference.
