The Real Federación Española de Béisbol y Softbol announced the roster for 2024 Honkbalweek Haarlem event on Monday, July 8.
All of the 2024 Honkbalweek Haarlem games will be played at Pim Mulier Stadion in Haarlem, Netherlands from July 12-19.
Spain will be participating at the Honkbalweek Haarlem for the first time. Nelson Prada will be the manager for Spain at the 2024 tournament.
Spain will be one of the six teams in the field at the Honkbalweek Haarlem event with host nation Kingdom of Netherlands, Italy, Chinese Taipei, Japan, and Team USA.
Spain’s roster will consist of players that are in the Division de Honor de Beisbol league, European professional leagues, and current free agents.
Spain can bring active players in independent-professional leagues in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Japan with permission of their current professional organization.
Players from Spain’s 2023 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers roster that are on the active roster for Honkbalweek Haarelm are Jorge Balboa, Rhiner Cruz, Edison Valerio, Lesther Galvan, Jesus Ustariz, Elio Silva, Orlando Rodriguez, Fernando Baez and Daniel Jimenez.
Spain beat South Africa and the Czech Republic at the 2023 WBCQ in Regensburg, Germany at Armin Wolf Arena and lost to Great Britain and the Czech Republic in the final qualifier games and did not qualify for the 2023 WBC.
Spain won their second European Baseball Championship last October and beat Great Britain 11-2 in Brno, Czech Republic.
Spain is ranked No. 22 in the WBR from the World Baseball Softball Confederation.
The 2024 Honkbalweek Haarlem event will affect each participating team’s place in the World Baseball Rankings.
Italy’s roster will have 24 players from their SerieA1 league play at the 2024 Honkbalweek Haarlem tournament.
Italy finished last in the six-team field at the 2022 Honkbalweek Haarlem tournament.
Mike Piazza was the manager for Italy at the 2022 Honkbalweek Haarlem event and won two games against Cuba 2-0 and Curacao 5-3.
The Koninklijke Nederlandse Baseball en Softball Bond will have players on the 2024 Honkbalweek Haarlem roster that are participating in the 2024 Honkbal Hoofdklasse regular season.
The Netherlands will have players from the Antilles, Curacao, and Aruba on their Honkbalweek Haarlem roster. The Netherlands has won four gold medals at the Honkbalweek Haarlem event and beat Curacao 6-1 in the gold medal game during the 2022 event.
The NJCAA All-Star Team will represent the United States at the event. The NJCAA Baseball All-Star Team roster for the Honkbalweek Haarlem event will be announced during the 2024 collegiate season. College of Central Florida head coach Marty Smith will be the head coach for the NJCAA Baseball All-Star team at Honkbalweek Haarlem.
The NJCAA’s results will not give the United States points WBR at the 2024 tournament since they are not representing USA Baseball.
The NJCAA All-Star Team participated in the 2010 Honkbalweek Haarlem event and finished in fourth place, losing to Japan in the bronze medal game. The team was coached by current NJCAA Baseball Coaches Association President Jeff Willis. This will be the second time that the NJCAA will send an All-Star Team to Honkbalweek Haarlem.
The United States has won 14 gold medals at the Honkbalweek Haarlem tournament, which is the most.
The United States won the bronze medal at the 2022 Honkbalweek Haarlem event and beat Japan.

The Federazione Italiana Baseball Softball announced on Feb. 27, 2024 that they will participate at the 2024 Honkbalweek Haarlem. Hall-of-Famer Mike Piazza will manage the Italy national team in the Netherlands. Italy won the bronze medal in the 1972 tournament.
The Baseball Federation of Japan and the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association announced on July 11, 2023 that they will participate at the 2024 Honkbalweek Haarlem event.
Japan will bring their college national team to the 2024 Honkbalweek Haarlem event. The CTBA will have players in their minor leagues of the Chinese Professional Baseball League in Taiwan be on the roster for the 2024 Honkbalweek Haarlem tournament.
Japan is aiming for their fifth gold medal at the Honkbalweek Haarlem event. Chinese Taipei has never won gold at the Honkbalweek Haarlem tournament.
The first game of the 2024 Honkbalweek Haarlem event will be on July 12 with Chinese Taipei playing Japan at 9:30 a.m. EDT followed by the Netherlands playing the United States at 1:30 p.m. EDT, both games at Pim Mulier Stadion.
