A report from Mike Rodriguez indicated that shortstop Ronny Mauricio will be called up to the New York Mets Tuesday.

Mauricio, 24, won the LIDOM MVP with the Tigres del Licey in 2022-23 and made 23 appearances with the Mets in 2023, batting .248/.296/.347 with two homers and nine RBIs. He returned to Licey for the 2023-24 season, but appeared in just eight games before suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The injury, which required two surgeries to correct, kept him out for the remainder of the 2022-24 winter ball season and all of the 2024 Major League Baseball season.
Mauricio has been rehabbing in the Mets’ minor league system this season, appearing in five games each at Class-A St. Lucie and Double-A Binghamton. In nine games at Triple-A Syracuse, Mauricio appears to have returned to the form that made him, at one time, a top prospect in the Mets organization, batting an astonishing .515/.564/.818 with three homers, eight RBIs, and a 1.382 OPS.
Because he’s seen limited time in the Major Leagues, Mauricio remains eligible to win the National League Rookie of the Year award in 2025.
The Mets are in Los Angeles to face the Dodgers, with Tuesday’s game, a nationally-televised matchup on TBS, starting at 10:10 p.m. EDT.
