Richard Evans is the new President of the British Baseball Federation, succeeding Chris Deacon.
Lee Manning has led the Federation as Interim President since Chris Deacon resigned on September 30.
Evans has served as the Marketing and Communications Official on the Board since 2022.
The British Baseball Federation’s Board includes Secretary General Earl Dix, Treasurer Oona Ylinen, Seniors Affiliated Clubs League Commissioner Chris Carter, Officials Commissioner Dave Becker, Development Official Lee Manning, Youth Affiliated Clubs League Commissioner Glenn Taylor (also interim National Teams Programme Official), Coaches Commissioner Mike Hayward, Marketing and Communications Official Stu Taylor.
Richard Evans started playing cricket at age eight and continued until his retirement as a fast bowler at age 45. Despite his lifelong commitment to cricket, his interest in baseball began as a child with a fascinating black and white photograph of a catcher and umpire in action from the 1950s that he found in the family home.
Throughout his cricketing career, he maintained an interest in baseball via Forces Radio and the International Herald Tribune, and its comprehensive box scores devoured in the 80s over morning coffee.
The Royals’ success in 1985 and the Buckner error the following year encouraged him to find out more, and he became hooked on The Curse, which was put to bed in 2004 as the Red Sox won their overdue World Series.
The fortunes of the Red Sox became a standard summer obsession through the championships in 2007 and 2013. The advent of the internet made watching games easier before a 2014 drive around New Hampshire, and a tour of Fenway Park drove him to find a club in Great Britain.
Richard joined Bristol Baseball Club in his hometown in 2015 and will celebrate 10 years of playing baseball in 2025. In 2017, he became club chairman and guided the club’s expansion from two to four teams.
