The Diablos Rojos del Mexico capped the 2025 Liga Mexicana de Beisbol season with a four-game sweep of the Charros de Jalisco in the Serie del Rey, capturing their second LMB title in as many years on Sunday evening in Guadalajara.
On Wednesday night, celebrating the title with his teammates and more than 10,000 of the Diablos’ fans at Estadio Alfredo Harp Helu in Mexico City, veteran second baseman and designated hitter Robinson Cano announced he would return to the club in 2026 to seek a third LMB title.

With the Diablos, Cano has won a Baseball CHampions League America title, along with two LMB championships. He got the 4,000th hit of his professional career on Saturday with a fifth-inning single in game three of the 2025 Serie del Rey.
Cano has been spectacular in his two seasons with the Diablos Rojos, capturing the LMB batting title in 2024 with a .431 average while hitting 14 homers and driving in 77 runs to lead the Reds to their first championship in over a decade. With Cano powering the 2024 lineup, the Diablos’ 71-19 regular season record gave the club a winning percentage of .789, the highest in the history of the LMB in a season of 90 or more games. While his batting average dropped a bit in 2025, Cano hit .372/.426/.533 with a .999 OPS, 14 homers and 86 RBIs while seeing more action as a designated hitter in his age 42 season.

The San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic native will be returning to play for LIDOM’s Estrellas Orientales in his hometown over the winter. Cano has played in the last five Caribbean Series representing the Dominican Republic with the LIDOM champion, winning titles in 2021, 2023, and 2025.
Cano played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball, mostly with the New York Yankees, New York Mets, and Seattle Mariners, and compile 1,306 RBIs, fourth all-time among second basemen.
