Samsung Lions Call Up No. Two Prospect Yook Sun-yeop

Samsung Lions are looking to add more to their pitching, calling up their No. 2 prospect and KBO’s No. 14 overall prospect, Yook Sun-yeop, to their active roster.

Yook was the No. 4 overall pick by the Lions in the 2023 KBO Draft. Also, he will wear No. 4 with the team. For the corresponding move, they’ve removed right-handed pitcher Connor Seabold from the active roster.

Seabold, 28, is pitching in his first season overseas. He made his MLB Debut back in 2021 with the Boston Red Sox, pitching two seasons there. He last pitched in the majors in 2023 with the Colorado Rockies. With the Lions this year, Seabold posted a 9-5 record and a 3.75 ERA in 23 starts, striking out 126 in 129.2 innings of work.

The 19-year-old made his KBO debut on May 1st this season, having already appeared in four games out of Samsung’s bullpen. In 6.2 innings, he’s walked seven batters and struck out 4. He made his last appearance on June 18th.

About a month and a few weeks later, is Yook ready to make an impact with the Samsung Lions?
