San Sebastian Patrulleros, Patillas Leones, Salinas Peces Voladores and Juncos Mulos qualified for the Puerto Rico Superior Double-A League semifinals at the end of the Carnival of Champions (Carnaval de Campeones), the round-robin among the Division Champions. The semifinal best-of-seven series will open on Friday, July 25. A meeting between the Baseball Federation of Puerto Rico (FBPR) and the four clubs is scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, to determine the official schedule.
The last weekend of the Carnival of Champions saw Salinas and Mulos earn semifinal-clinching wins over Dorado Guardianese and Peñuelas Petroleros. A win against Plata Pescadores wasn’t enough for Camuy Arenosos to advance to the semifinals.
FBPR announced that the 2025 Youth Double-A League, the Roberto Alomar tournament, will open on August 2 at the Bayamon Baseball Complex. The defending champions, Vaqueros, will host Cataño in a double-header.
The other 71 participants will take the field on August 9. The late Osvaldo Gil founded the Double-A Youth League in 1972. Over 1,700 players will compete in the 2025 edition.
