The 2025 Dutch Softball Season was full of surprises, but one team stood head and shoulders above the rest: SanTwee Olympia. From the very first game, SanTwee Olympia showed why they were considered one of the favorites. With strong pitching, and an offense that struck at the right moments, the groundwork was laid for a successful season.
The team from Haarlem went on an impressive winning streak and effortlessly secured a spot in the playoffs. However, the road to the championship was anything but easy. Rivals like Sparks Haarlem, Neptunus and Roef! put up strong resistance, making every game a fierce battle. SanTwee Olympia, however, demonstrated resilience and determination, which ultimately made the difference in the decisive matches.
In general, the Dutch softball season was notably short mostly due to the scheduling demands of the national team playing Canada Cup, World Games and European Championships. As a result, the league format featured several gaps in the competition, with teams only facing each other over two weekends. This condensed schedule led directly into only two weekends of playoffs, resulting in the finals that concluded the season.
The Holland Series, as the Dutch Finals are called was played between SanTwee Olympia and Sparks in a best of 5 series. SanTwee Olympia Haarlem took clear control in the opening weekend of the finals against city rival Sparks Haarlem. After a rain delay, SanTwee Olympia resumed the first game with confidence and secured a convincing 8–1 victory, followed by a dominant 8–0 win in the second matchup. With a well-rounded offense, solid pitching, and sharp defense, SanTwee Olympia left no doubt about its form. Sparks managed a few hits but was unable to generate consistent offensive pressure, while SanTwee Olympia capitalized efficiently on walks and scoring opportunities.
In Game 3, SanTwee Olympia continued its strong run and sealed the championship with a 10–8 victory, sweeping the Holland Series in three games. After jumping to a quick 9–0 lead, the game briefly tightened as Sparks fought back with eight runs, but SanTwee Olympia held firm to close it out. The team claimed its second consecutive national title and sixth overall since 2017. Despite a spirited effort, Sparks could not
overcome SanTwee Olympia’s dominance.
