SEC Awards: Arkansas Shortstop Wehiwa Aloy Wins SEC Player of the Year, Tennessee’s Liam Doyle Wins Pitcher of the Year

On Monday, the Southeastern Conference announced its regular season awards for the 2025 college baseball season. Arkansas shortstop Wehiwa Aloy won the player of the year award, and Tennessee ace Liam Doyle won the pitcher of the year award.

Wehiwa Aloy, SS, Arkansas – SEC Player of the Year

Aloy is the second Arkansas player to win the SEC Player of the Year award. Andrew Benintendi was the first when he won it in 2015.

This season, the shortstop from Wailuku, Hawaii, had a .358 batting average and an on-base percentage of .440. He also had 18 home runs and 58 RBI. All of this made him Arkansas’ most valuable hitter and one of the best hitters in the SEC.

One of the better parts of Aloy’s game is his defense. He reached career-best marks on both fielding percentage and errors. In fact, his efforts helped to make Arkansas the best defensive team in the SEC.

Liam Doyle, LHP, Tennessee – SEC Pitcher of the Year

The Ole Miss transfer ended up putting together a magical season for the Tennessee Volunteers. His 137 total strikeouts are the most by a pitcher in all of college baseball, and he paired that with a 2.72 ERA in 79 and 1/3 innings.

Doyle faced 314 total batters in 2025. Throughout all of those at-bats, he allowed an opposing batting average of just .171.

This season, the Tennessee ace has propelled his 2025 MLB Draft stock. In MLB.com’s most recent mock draft, Jonathan Mayo has him going third overall to the Seattle Mariners.

Without Doyle, the Volunteers would not be the same kind of pitching staff they are right now, as they currently sit with the third-best team ERA in the SEC.
