The second edition of the Serie de Las Americas, a postseason winter ball tournament featuring teams from Cuba, Colombia, Nicaragua, Argentina, Curaçao, and Panama, will be held January 24-30 at Estadio Rod Carew in Panama City, with the possibility of some games being held at Estadio Mariano Rivera in La Chorrera, Panama.
The Asociation de Ligas Profesionales de Beisbol de Las Americas made the announcement via the Instagram page of Panama’s ProBeis league on Friday evening. Last year’s SDLA champion, the Aguilas Metropolitanas, were the ProBeis champions and the winner of the inaugural SDLA, which was held in Nicaragua.

“The national and international projection of what is now ABAM achieved the goal we had set for ourselves. Panama was the champion team of the first Series of the Americas,” said Ajax Delgado, secretary general of ABAM, in the post, which was translated from Spanish. “Today, it is a great pleasure for us to be here and share with you the official launch of the second Series of the Americas Panama 2026, which allows us to demonstrate that we are undergoing a process of consolidation and development with an inclusive concept of integrating the largest number of countries that develop baseball in our Americas.”
Six teams will again participate in the SDLA, according to the post, with the champions of professional leagues expected to represent each country. Four of the six nations sending teams to the SDLA will be participating in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, and players from Curacao will be on the roster for the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the WBC, which will be played in March.
“We reaffirm our commitment as a country to the second edition of the Serie de las Américas in Panama. A tournament that will be very important because it is a competition that will be held one month before the World Baseball Classic, and five of the six participating teams will be in that event,” said David Salayandía, the president of ABAM.
At least two of the participating countries — Colombia and Cuba — have been invited to participate in the 2026 Caribbean Series in Caracas, Venezuela. It is unknown whether the same team representing each league would participate in both events, or if an alternate team would be sent to one of the two events.
It is possible that more countries that have been announced for the SDLA could be invited to the Caribbean Series. In July, when the Confederacion de Beisbol Profesional del Caribe, which organizes the Caribbean Series, announced the invitations extended to Cuba and Colombia, they further noted that Nicaragua, Curacao, and Panama are still being being considered to be included in the event in Caracas, which will be played during the first week of February.
No further announcements regarding invitees to the Caribbean Series have been made by the CBPC, however, leaving the two potential berths in the Caribbean Series open. In 2023, the last time the Caribbean Series was held in Caracas, it was an eight-team event, with Cuba, Colombia, Panama, and Curacao playing as invitees.
