MLB fans have gotten used to Shohei Ohtani making headlines on the field since the Japanese-born superstar made his MLB debut with the Los Angeles Angels in 2018. However, Ohtani has continued to become a star off the field as well.
Ohtani announced that he is launching his signature collection with New Balance. A major piece of the collection is the release of the Ohtani 1, his signature cleats. Along with the cleats, the collection will include a T-shirt and jacket.

Ohtani recently spoke about the deal with New Balance. He said, “I have a deep respect for the heritage of baseball and the sport itself, and I love that the collection pays tribute to the traditional old-school style while bringing a new-school twist.” Ohtani says the pieces can fit in an athlete’s wardrobe on and off the field.
The collection will be available for fans to purchase on July 15th. The collection can be purchased on the New Balance Website and at retailers. With Ohtani’s global reach, these items are expected to be a hot commodity.
Ohtani will wear his new cleats tonight, Friday, June 21st, in the first game of a two-game series against his former team, the Angels. This is Ohtani’s first time playing against the Angels since he signed with the Dodgers in the offseason. He continues to be an MVP frontrunner through the first part of the season, batting .318 with 21 home runs and a 1.006 OPS.
