Shortstop Isaiah Lane No Longer with San Diego Toreros

As of Saturday, February 7, shortstop Isaiah Lane is no longer with the San Diego Toreros baseball program, according to D1 Baseball’s Kendall Rogers.

Lane violated team rules and will likely land at Hope International University, a NAIA school based in Fullerton, Calif.

This news came six days before San Diego’s first game of the 2026 college baseball season.

What San Diego is Losing in Lane

Lane had a great 2025 college baseball season. He had a .337 batting average, a .464 on-base percentage, 11 doubles, 10 home runs, and 30 RBIs.

Lane was second-team All-West Coast Conference (WCC) in his first season with San Diego. Prior to playing with the Toreros, Lane played for the Oklahoma Sooners in 2024. In Norman, he played in 26 games as a freshman.

The shortstop was a highly anticipated college baseball player on the West Coast heading into 2026.  He was a preseason All-WCC shortstop and was possibly going to be San Diego’s best hitter this upcoming season.

Up Next for San Diego, 2025 Season Results

The San Diego Toreros will begin the 2026 college baseball season on February 13 against the Charlotte 49ers.

The game will be on the road for San Diego at Hayes Stadium in Charlotte. The first pitch is at 4 p.m. EST.

In 2025, the Toreros finished below .500 (28-30 overall) and missed the NCAA Tournament after making it to the postseason in 2024.
