The South Carolina Gamecocks suffered a tough loss in their pitching staff. It was announced Thursday that right-hander Eli Jerzembeck will be out for the remainder of the 2025 college baseball season.
The redshirt sophomore was suffering from a stress fracture in his elbow. He also missed all of last season with injury problems.
In 2023, he had a promising freshman season, with a 2.84 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 31.2 innings.
The right-hander from Charlotte could have played a vital role in head coach Paul Mainieri’s rotation this season. Instead, the Gamecocks will have to be without him.
South Carolina is undefeated heading into this weekend’s series at home in Founders Park against Milwaukee. They are coming off two wins in the mid-week on the road against Winthrop and at home against Queens University.
The Gamecocks went to X to announce their weekend rotation, featuring Dylan Eskew, Matthew Becker, and Jake McCoy in that order Friday through Sunday.
