This week, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles gave head coach Christian Ostrander a four-year extension through 2029.

Ostrander has been the head coach for the Golden Eagles for two seasons. He took over the position for the 2024 season after legendary head coach Scott Berry retired after 14 seasons.

The Southern Miss head coach commented on his extension in a press release put together by the school.

I am extremely grateful for the contract extension that has been given to me by our administration,” said Ostrander. “The University of Southern Mississippi is a special place and Southern Miss baseball is a special program. My family and I absolutely love it here in Hattiesburg. This is where we want to be, and I am honored to get this opportunity.”

In 2025, Ostrander led the Golden Eagles to a 47-16 overall record and a 24-6 record in Sun Belt play.

The 47 wins in 2025 are tied for the second-most wins in a single season in Southern Miss baseball history.

The Golden Eagles also hosted a regional at Pete Taylor Park in Hattiesburg this past season. It was the ninth-straight season the Golden Eagles made the NCAA Tournament.

In 2024, the head coach led the Golden Eagles to a conference tournament title. It was the second straight conference tournament title for Southern Miss and their seventh one in program history.

Under Ostrander, Southern Miss has won 90 total games and has been to two NCAA Tournament regional finals.
