St. John’s Jon LeGrande Wins Cape Cod League Playoff MVP Award

St. John’s Red Storm outfielder Jon LeGrande won the Cape Cod League Playoff MVP Award for the Bourne Braves.  

In eight playoff games for Bourne, LeGrande had a .444 batting average, nine runs, and five RBI. He helped lead the Braves to their third Cape Cod League championship in four seasons.  

LeGrande discussed his playoff performance for Bourne after the team won the championship.  

“The last two weeks of the regular season, I was cold,” said LeGrande. “I took a look in the mirror and told myself that I have to get it together. I just fixed my approach and everything felt normal again.” 

Throughout the entire Cape Cod League season, LeGrande finished with a .288 batting average, 16 RBI, and 21 stolen bases.  

LeGrande’s 2025 Season with St. John’s Red Storm 

The 2025 season with St. John’s was a great one for LeGrande at the plate. He was the Red Storm’s best hitter throughout the season with a team-leading .368 batting average and a 1.021 OPS. 

He also had eight doubles, seven home runs, and 48 RBI. Along with being St. John’s best hitter, he was a top ten hitter in the Big East. 

The hitting by LeGrande was crucial and led to St. John’s being the second-best hitting team in the Big East based on batting average. The Red Storm had a .303 team batting average in 2025. 

The UConn Huskies were the only team that was better at hitting the baseball with a team batting average of .313. 

LeGrande was also one of the best base stealers in the Big East with 33 total stolen bases in 2025.  

In 2025, St. John’s had a 29-24 overall record, and they were 13-8 in Big East play.
