On Monday, Stanford shortstop Temo Becerra announced that he would be hitting the transfer portal. The senior from Clovis, Calif., has been putting together a great season for the Cardinal in 2025.
Becerra built on great freshman and sophomore seasons at Stanford this year, culminating in the best season of his career in 2025. He currently has a .340 batting average, a .394 on-base percentage, and a career-high in RBIs with 36, twice as many RBIs as he had in the 2024 season.
Stanford’s most recent game on May 11 against Grand Canyon was one of Becerra’s better games of the season. He finished with three hits, one of which was his ninth double of the season. He also had four RBI which was huge in a high-scoring 16-15 win for the Cardinal.
The shortstop has had four other three-hit games this season and has 16 total multi-hit games.
Becerra’s decision to enter the transfer portal for a graduate season marks one of the first big moves into the portal by a power conference player. He will be a big addition for any team targeting him as he is one of Stanford’s best hitters this season.
Up Next – Stanford is 25-23 this season with a lackluster ACC record of 9-18. They do not have a game in the midweek slate.
Instead, the Cardinal will head to the East Coast for the final weekend of the season to play the North Carolina State Wolfpack in a three-game series. The first pitch for the first game of that series on Thursday, May 15, is scheduled for 6 p.m. EDT.
