Suzuki Shunsuke joins Fubon Guardians

Suzuki Shunsuke is signing with the Fubon Guardians of the Chinese Professional Baseball League. The 26-year-old pitched for the Rakuten Monkeys in 2024.

Shunsuke did not have the best year in 2024, but is looking to find better results for the Guardians. He had a 5.55 ERA in seven starts, playing just 10 games total. He notched 32 strikeouts, but walked 24 batters in 48 2/3 innings.

He started with the Fukushima Red Hopes in the Baseball Challenge League in 2019. He had a 5.79 ERA in his first season, but improved significantly in 2020. He had a 1.58 ERA in 2020, but posted a 4.77 ERA in 2021 for the Shinano Grandserows. 2022 was by far his best season in the Baseball Challenge League. He won the Triple Crown and had a 1.58 ERA.

Despite his stellar 2022 season, he went undrafted in the 2022 Nippon Professional Baseball Draft. In 2023, he posted a 2.74 ERA in 15 games and finally joined the CPBL in 2024.
