  • Kevin Pillar signs one-year contract with Los Angeles Angels
    • This move comes after Mike Trout landed on the 10-day injured list on April 30 with a left knee meniscus tear and will undergo surgery. 
    • Pillar has played 12 seasons in the MLB and started this season with the Chicago White Sox, appearing in 17 games before being designated for assignment.
    • In his career, Pillar has played in 1,131 games with a lifetime average of .257 in 4,084 plate appearances, dialing 983 hits, 229 doubles, 15 triples, 107 home runs, 427 RBI, 98 stolen bases, 164 walks, 698 strikeouts, and a .702 OPS.           
  • Toronto Blue Jays Starting Pitcher Yariel Rodriguez Landed On 15-Day Injured List
    • The Cuban right-handed pitcher was placed on the 15-day injured list with a thoracic spine inflammation on April 30.
    • Rodriguez made his MLB debut against the Rockies on April 13. He pitched 3.2 innings in that game, allowing one run on four hits and striking out six.
    • This season, he made four starts, went 0-1, and with an ERA of 4.11.
  • Boston Red Sox Utility Player Pablo Reyes Designated For Assignment
    • Reyes, 30, was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and has played in six seasons in the MLB.
    • This season, Reyes played in 21 games and batted .183 with 11 hits, five RBIs, one stolen base, three walks, and 19 strikeouts before being designated for assignment on April 29.
    • In his six big league seasons, Reyes has a lifetime average of .248 in 233 games. He has 129 hits, 25 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 54 RBIs, 13 stolen bases, 45 walks, 104 strikeouts, and a .658 OPS.                                                  
  • Outfielder Jordan Beck, Colorado Rockies No. 4 Prospect, Called Up To Majors
    • Beck, 23, was born in Hazel Green, Ala., and was drafted by Colorado as the 38th overall pick in the 2022 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.
    • In his three seasons with the Tennessee Volunteers, Beck played in 149 games and batted .284 with 156 hits, 36 doubles, five triples, 34 home runs, 134 RBI, swiping 14 bases, 69 walks, 133 strikeouts, and a .919 OPS before he committed to the MLB Draft.
    • The right-handed hitter has played in the minor leagues with the Rockies for three seasons and has a .280 lifetime average playing in 177 games. He had 189 hits, 51 doubles, four triples, 33 home runs, 138 RBI, 25 stolen bases, 112 walks, 186 strikeouts, and a .893 OPS.
