TCU Pitcher Louis Rodriguez to Get Tommy John Surgery, Will Miss 2026 Season

On Thursday, D1 Baseball’s Kendall Rogers reported that TCU right-handed pitcher Louis Rodriguez will be out for the 2026 college baseball season due to a torn UCL. Rogers also stated that he will get Tommy John Surgery.

Rodriguez and his Career with the Horned Frogs

Rodriguez is a senior heading into 2026. He has spent three seasons with TCU baseball.

In his career, the veteran has a 3.95 ERA and 150 strikeouts in 148 innings of work. He also has 11 wins in his college career.

Rodriguez has made 15 starts in his career with the Horned Frogs. However, he has mostly been used as a reliever for the majority of his collegiate career.

Rodriguez reached a career-best in allowed opposing average last season at .224. He also gave up just 39 hits. This is the lowest hit total he allowed in any of his three seasons with TCU.

Rodriguez’s best performance in 2025 came towards the beginning of the year against the San Diego Toreros on February 17. He had seven strikeouts in three innings of work. He also allowed just one earned run and three hits.

Up Next for TCU, 2026 Shriners Children’s College Showdown

This is a tough break for the Horned Frogs as they will navigate the 2026 season without a veteran reliever on their pitching staff.

TCU will begin the 2026 college baseball season at the Shriners Children’s College Showdown. The invitational event will be at Globe Life Field, the home of Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers in Arlington.

On February 13, the Horned Frogs will open the season against the Vanderbilt Commodores at 4 p.m. EST.

Then, they will play the Arkansas Razorbacks on February 14 at 8 p.m. EST.

The final game in Arlington for TCU is against the Oklahoma Sooners on February 15 at 7:30 p.m. EST.
