Tegan Kuhns had a big freshman season for the Tennessee Volunteers. In 2025, he made 15 appearances on the mound, which included 10 starts. He pitched a total of 36 2/3 innings.
Over that stretch of play, Kuhns had a 5.40 ERA and 40 strikeouts. He also only hit two batters.
His best pitching performance for Tennessee during the 2025 season came on May 2 against the Auburn Tigers. In that game, he pitched 4 2/3 innings and had six strikeouts. Kuhns allowed just one walk and two runs during that game.
After the 2025 college baseball season came to an end, Kuhns pitched in the Cape Cod Baseball League over the summer.
In 13 1/3 innings with the Brewster Whitecaps, he had a 1.35 ERA and 20 strikeouts. All three of Kuhns’ appearances in the Cape Cod League were starts.
Kuhns has received some good MLB draft stock for 2026. In MLB Pipeline’s recent draft prospect rankings, the Tennessee right-hander is ranked 43rd.
He is one of two Volunteer baseball players ranked in MLB Pipeline’s prospect list. The other player is Virginia transfer Henry Ford, who is ranked 59th.
Kuhns and the Volunteers begin the 2026 college baseball season with a weekend series lasting from February 13 through February 15.
Tennessee will host the Nicholls Colonels for three games at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in Knoxville.
