The 2025 college baseball season is officially in the books. Many teams around the country continue to make significant additions through the transfer portal. Tennessee and Texas have made some major moves recently. Here are some players those two teams have picked up.
Tennessee Adds Former Virginia Power Hitter
The Tennessee Volunteers secured a transfer portal commitment from Virginia’s Henry Ford.
In 2025, Ford was a second-team All-ACC selection with the Cavaliers. He finished with a .362 batting average, a .420 on-base percentage, 11 home runs and 46 RBIs.
He also walked nearly as often as he struck out, with 21 walks compared to 30 strikeouts.
Ford is also a former freshman All-American, recognized by outlets such as Perfect Game and D1 Baseball.
With 28 career home runs, Tennessee is adding another power bat to the mix. Players who can hit home runs have fared well at Lindsey Nelson Stadium for the Volunteers.
It is worth noting that Ford is ranked in the top 75 on MLB.com’s 2025 draft prospect board. This could lead to a decision to play in college or the minor leagues for the former Virginia power hitter.
Texas Adds Stanford’s Temo Becerra and Notre Dame’s Carson Tinney
The Texas Longhorns also added two high-profile players through the transfer portal.
Head coach Jim Schlossnagle added a championship shortstop in Temo Becerra to the roster.
At Stanford, Becerra won two Pac-12 championships with the Cardinal. The shortstop had the best batting average of his career in 2025 at .330, along with a solid .384 on-base percentage.
Notre Dame catcher Carson Tinney also committed to Texas. He was a finalist for the Buster Posey Award in 2025, which goes to the best catcher in college baseball.
Tinney had a .348 batting average and a .498 on-base percentage. The star catcher also had 17 home runs and 53 RBIs.
In addition to being a Buster Posey Award finalist, Tinney was also a first-team All-ACC selection and was named a first-team All-American by Baseball America.
