The Tennessee Volunteers began their national championship defense in 2025 by facing off with the Hofstra Pride in Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Tennessee completed a series sweep over the weekend and hit seven home runs.

The Volunteers got a 15-0 shutout win on Friday’s opening-day matchup. The team tallied 13 hits, and eight different hitters had RBIs. Dean Curley and Andrew Fischer hit home runs for Tennessee in the game, as did sophomore Hunter High.

Saturday’s game had similar offensive fortunes for the Vols as they defeated the Pride 18-1. Center Fielder Hunter Ensley hit a grand slam in the game. Freshman designated hitter Levi Clark hit a long ball, as did redshirt freshman Blake Grimmer

On Sunday, outfielder Reese Chapman hit a home run to round out the power hitting for the weekend that was also a grand slam. It came in an eight-run second inning of a 13-1 win

All three games Tennessee played this weekend ended in seven innings by way of the run-rule. It was a dominant start for them in their first weekend series as reigning national champions, as they now sit with a 3-0 record.

The Vols will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in Knoxville. They will face off against the UNC-Asheville Bulldogs. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. E.T.
