On Friday, the Tennessee Volunteers landed a big commitment from Dylan Seward. According to Perfect Game, he is the second-ranked player in the 2027 high school class.

The only player he is ranked behind is Chase Fuller, who is the number one player in the country and committed to Florida State.

Seward is a switch-hitting shortstop prospect from Eastvale, Calif. He currently plays baseball for Norco High School.

Perfect Game described him as having “high-level athleticism and arm strength.”

Seward’s commitment to Tennessee makes him the highest-ranked prospect in the Volunteers’ 2027 class.

Tennessee’s 2027 Recruiting Class and More

Seward is a part of Tennessee’s 2027 recruiting class that ranks third in the country. The only teams with better recruiting classes in that cycle are the LSU Tigers and Texas Longhorns.

Tennessee’s 2027 recruiting class contains 10 total committed prospects. Out of the ten total prospects, seven of them are ranked in Perfect Game’s top 100.

The success head coach Tony Vitello has had so far in the 2027 cycle has translated to other Tennessee recruiting classes as well.

The Volunteers are currently coming off back-to-back number one overall classes in the 2024 and 2025 recruiting cycles.

In the 2026 recruiting cycle, the Tennessee Volunteers currently have the fourth-best class in the country. That class contains 10 top 100 prospects.

Seward is the latest elite prospect to join the fold of talented players committed to playing college baseball for Tennessee.
