Tennessee Pitching Staff Throws No-Hitter in Win Over St. Bonaventure

The Tennessee Volunteers made some history in their 12-0 win over St. Bonaventure on Friday. The pitching staff threw a combined no-hitter against the Bonnies. This is the first no history for the Volunteers since 2002 and the ninth ever in program history.

The only way St. Bonaventure could get on-base was via walks and the Tennessee pitchers gave up just four all game.

Liam Doyle got the start for the Volunteers and continued his great season. He went 5 and 2/3 innings and struck out 13 batters.

The southpaw transfer from Ole Miss earned the win and now has 47 strikeouts in 20 1/3 innings of work throughout the season.

Tanner Franklin came in relief for Doyle and recorded the final out of the sixth inning by way of a ground out. Tennessee made another pitching change heading into the seventh inning as Brandon Arvidson entered.

The JUCO transfer went an inning and recorded two strikeouts. He was replaced by redshirt freshman Brayden May, who made his debut in orange and white.

May recorded the 16th strikeouts of the game for Tennessee and left after an inning of work just like Arvidson.

Michael Sharman closed out the game in the ninth inning and completed the no-hitter in Knoxville.

Head coach Tony Vitello has seen and done a lot in his time at Tennessee. A no-hitter has been added to that extensive list.

The Volunteers are still undefeated in the 2025 season. They will look to get the series win over St. Bonaventure Saturday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. EST.
