Tennessee sophomore Chris Newstrom has been hitting the ball well during the 2026 Amegy Bank College Baseball Series in Arlington, Texas.
In two games against UCLA and Arizona State, he had four hits and three RBIs. Three out of those four hits were a double, a triple, and a home run.
Newstrom now has seven total hits this season and four RBIs. It has been a decent-looking start to his second season with the Volunteers.
He has been one of Tennessee’s best-looking players in Arlington this weekend.
Newstrom and his Freshman Season with Tennessee
In 2025, Newstrom arrived in Knoxville after a great high school career. According to Perfect Game, he was a top 120 player nationally and a top ten player from the state of Arizona.
He proved to be impactful with his bat during his first season with Tennessee. In 57 at-bats, he had a .351 batting average with five home runs and 19 RBIs.
On March 9, 2025, he had a three-home run game against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies.
Up Next for Tennessee
The Tennessee Volunteers have a 7-3 overall record this season. At Globe Life Field during the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series, they lost 12-5 against UCLA but followed that up with a 5-3 win over Arizona State.
Their final game of the event at Globe Life Field is against the Virginia Tech Hokies on Sunday, March 1.
The first pitch for that game is at 11:30 a.m. EST.
