Texas A&M Hitting Explodes In Doubleheader Against Tennessee

After having no hits in a mercy rule loss on Friday, the Texas A&M Aggies had an explosive performance hitting on Saturday. This led to two wins and a series win over the Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville.

The Aggies had 27 hits across both games during the doubleheader. They outscored Tennessee 26-9 in those same two games. This is quite a surprise considering that Texas A&M was the worst hitting team in the SEC heading into this weekend’s action.

The power was put on display in the second game of the doubleheader. Texas A&M won 17-6 and forced a run-rule in eight innings. They hit seven home runs throughout the course of the game. Ben Royo and Wyatt Henseler had two long balls each. Caden Sorrell, Bear Harrison, and Kaeden Kent also chipped in with home runs in that game.

Throughout the doubleheader, Texas A&M had four players with multiple home runs. Sorrell led the way with three home runs during Saturday’s action.

Freshman outfielder Terrence Kiel II put together a great hitting performance on Saturday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. He had five hits, two RBI, and scored three runs himself.

This hitting burst led to a needed series win for Texas A&M as the preseason number one team according to D1Baseball had been flirting around .500 going into Knoxville to play the number one team in the country in the Tennessee Volunteers.
