Texas A&M’s Caden McCoy to Miss the 2026 College Baseball Season

Texas A&M left-handed pitcher Caden McCoy will miss the 2026 college baseball season and will receive Tommy John surgery, according to TexAgs analyst Ryan Brauninger.

McCoy is a sophomore heading into this season and put together a great freshman at Texas A&M in 2025.

McCoy and his 2025 Season with the Aggies

In 2025, McCoy had a 4.91 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 22 innings of work with Texas A&M.

He made 14 total relief appearances and picked up three wins against Sam Houston, South Carolina, and Tarleton.

He also had two saves last season against Houston Christian and Lamar.

McCoy reached a season-high in innings pitched and strikeouts against the LSU Tigers on May 3. In 3 2/3 innings of work, he struck out six LSU hitters in what was a 2-1 loss for the Aggies.

McCoy also allowed just two hits, no walks, and no runs during that appearance.

He was the winner of the 2025 Wally Moon Award. This is a Texas A&M team award that goes to the player who showed the most improvement from the fall through the end of the spring season.

How Does McCoy’s Injury Impact Texas A&M?

After a standout freshman season, it seemed like McCoy was going to be a viable option out of the bullpen for Texas A&M in 2026.

However, the Aggies will now need other relievers to step up in his place. This slightly shrinks the amount of relief pitching they have.

Up Next for Texas A&M

The Texas A&M Aggies will begin the 2026 college baseball season on February 13 against the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles.

The game is at Texas A&M’s home ballpark, Blue Bell Park, in College Station. The first pitch is at 7 p.m. EST.
