According to Orange Blood’s Zachary Symm, the Texas Longhorns have signed a late transfer in College of Charleston outfielder Dariyan Pendergrass.
The 2026 college baseball season with Texas will be Pendergrass’s graduate year.
Pendergrass is a Major Base-Stealing Threat
In 2025, Pendergrass had a .310 batting average, a .414 on-base percentage, 12 doubles, and 37 RBI. He walked more times than he struck out, with 35 walks compared to 25 strikeouts.
The biggest part of Pendergrass’ game that sticks out is his base-stealing. In 2025, he had 49 stolen bases, making him a top ten base stealer in the entire country.
This is something the Texas Longhorns can benefit from in 2026. In 2025, they ranked in the top five of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in stolen bases. Pendergrass can add to what was already a good base-stealing group last season.
Texas’ Loaded Outfield Group for 2026
Pendergrass is joining a loaded outfield group that the Texas Longhorns have.
The group includes other incoming transfers like LSU’s Ashton Larson and Seton Hall’s Aiden Robbins.
Larson is a former All-SEC freshman, and Robbins was a first-team All-Big East player in 2025.
There is also some young talent in that group that Pendergrass can mentor, such as Anthony Pack Jr. According to Perfect Game, Pack Jr. is a top five outfielder in the 2025 high school class.
Another young player in the outfield is Jonah Williams, who also plays football for the Texas Longhorns. In 2025, Williams had a .327 batting average in 55 at-bats.
Up Next for the Texas Longhorns
Pendergrass and the Longhorns will begin the 2026 college baseball season with a three-game weekend series against the UC Davis Aggies.
That series will be from February 13-15 at Disch-Falk Field in Austin.
