After a 4-3 win over the Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday, the Texas Longhorns completed a series sweep to move to 26-4 overall in the 2025 college baseball season. Sunday’s win made it eight straight wins for the Longhorns in SEC play.
Georgia’s offense that had been lights out all season was quiet in Austin. After three straight games of scoring nine runs or more, they could not score more than three in any of the games this weekend.
The Texas offense combated that with timely hits that included plenty of home runs. They had five long balls this weekend with five different players hitting one.
A big key to Texas taking Georgia was the pitching. After this weekend, they now lead the SEC in team ERA at 3.05. They struck out the Bulldogs 38 times. Their top two starters, Jared Spencer and Luke Harrison, had 11 and nine strikeouts in their respective outings.
This elite level of pitching is a difference maker for Texas and sets the tone for how they can be a competitor to win it all. They have yet to face some good offenses in SEC play such as Auburn, Arkansas, etc. However, this kind of pitching can get the job done.
SEC play has been kind to Texas. They are 11-1 after this weekend with a couple big-time series wins under their belt against not only Georgia, but also LSU.
As it turns out, Disch-Falk Field has become a difficult place to play for every team across the country. The Longhorns are 15-3 at home this season.
