Texas Shortstop Adrian Rodriguez has put together a great NCAA Tournament

Texas shortstop Adrian Rodriguez has been lights out during the 2026 NCAA Tournament. He has played a massive role in leading the Texas Longhorns back to the College World Series for the first time since 2022.

Texas has played five NCAA Tournament games. As a result, Rodriguez is on a five-game hitting streak. He has multiple hits in each of his NCAA Tournament games this season. He kicked off the 2026 NCAA Tournament with a three-hit day against Holy Cross, which included two doubles.

In the NCAA Tournament, Rodriguez has 11 hits, nine RBIs, and five doubles.

The crowning moment of the NCAA Tournament so far for Rodriguez came in game two of the Austin super regional at Disch-Falk Field against the Oregon Ducks.

Oregon got five straight runs, which erased a 4-0 Texas lead and made it a 5-4 game. In the top of the eighth inning, the Longhorns applied some pressure and loaded the bases. Then, Rodriguez came to the plate and hit the ball the opposite way for a two-run double.

This gave Texas a 6-5 lead. The Longhorns would win the game and sweep the Ducks in the Austin super regional and advance to Omaha.

This season, Rodriguez has a .306 batting average and a .404 on-base percentage. He also has 16 doubles, 40 RBIs, and 13 stolen bases.

Rodriguez has also improved his defense this season with a .968 fielding percentage in 2026 compared to a .929 fielding percentage in 2025.

Up next for Texas

The Texas Longhorns are in the College World Series for the 39th time in program history. They will search for their seventh national championship in school history and their first one since 2005.

Their first game of the 2026 College World Series at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha will be against the Georgia Bulldogs. That game is on Saturday, June 13, at 8 p.m. ET. The game is available to watch on ESPN.
