On Sunday, March 22, the Texas State Bobcats defeated the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns 16-6 in seven innings.
The win for the Bobcats capped off a weekend sweep of Louisiana, and it was a historic day for the program. Texas State had eight home runs in Sunday’s win over the Ragin’ Cajuns.
The eight home runs tied a Texas State program record for most home runs in a game. The Bobcats hit eight home runs in a matchup against Northwestern back in 2023.
Dawson Park and Ethan Farris hit two home runs apiece
The onslaught of home runs Texas State had came from six different players. Dawson Park and Ethan Farris both hit two home runs for the Bobcats. They were responsible for half of the home runs Texas State had.
Other Texas State players who hit home runs include Jackson Cotton, Manny Salas, Clayton Namken, and Chase Mora.
Salas led the Bobcats in hitting against Louisiana on Sunday with four hits. Mora, Park, and Farris also had multi-hit days. Texas State had 16 hits as a team against the Ragin’ Cajuns.
Texas State leads the Sun Belt in home runs
The Texas State Bobcats have 34 home runs as a team this season and lead the Sun Belt Conference.
Their leading home run hitters are Salas, Cotton, and Park, who all have six long balls apiece in 2026. Eight different Texas State hitters have multiple home runs this season.
Up next for the Bobcats
After earning a series sweep against a top 25 opponent, Texas State has a 15-8 overall record this season. They are also 3-3 now in Sun Belt play.
Their next game is on Tuesday, March 24, against the UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros. That game is at Bobcat Ballpark in San Marcos, Texas, and the first pitch is at 7 p.m. EST.
