The Serie de Las Americas will return to Venezuela in 2027, the Asociación de Ligas de Beisbol de las Américas announced shortly before Friday night’s championship game.
“We invited the LVBP to host in 2027, and we hope that more than seven countries will participate. That is our mission,” said Ajax Delgado, the incoming president of ABAM, told the media before the championship game.
The 2026 Serie de Las Americas was moved from Panama to Venezuela after the Caribbean Series, winter baseball’s biggest postseason event, was moved from Venezuela to Mexico in December, with the Confederacion de Beisbol Profesional del Caribe, which organizes the Caribbean Series, citing the rising military tensions between the United States and Venezuela for the move.
“We bet on Venezuela when some turned their backs on it, and now great things are coming. This Series was the first of many here; now other countries are interested in this, and we will continue to grow because we don’t just think about professional baseball; we also have projects with youth categories,” outgoing ABAM president David Salayandía said at a press conference announcing the return of the series to Venezuela next year.
At the press conference, held at Estadio Monumental Simon Bolivar in Caracas, Salayandiya noted that ABAM would meet with the CBPC to coordinate dates for both the Caribbean Series and the Serie de Las Americas going forward. Venezuela’s Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional, which sent its champion, the Navegantes del Magallanes, to the 2026 Serie de Las Americas, has already told the CBPC that they intend to send their 2026-27 champion to the 2027 Caribbean Series in Hermosillo, Mexico.
“Ideally, one tournament could be held the last week of January and the other in February,” Salayandía said. “It was unusual for them to coincide this year; the goal is to prevent that from happening.”
The 2026 Serie de Las Americas featured the champions of professional leagues in Argentina, Colombia, Curacao, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, as well as a national team representing Cuba, and Panama’s Aguilas Metropolitanas, who represented Panama’s ProBeis league. ProBeis did not play a season in the winter of 2025-26.
