The United States Get Second Premier12 Win, Dominating Panama 9-3

On Tuesday, the United States looked to bounce back and get into the win column against Panama. Panama had just won against Mexico and had solidified itself toward the top of pool A heading into the game at Coloso Del Pacifico. The United States came out victorious, winning 9-3.

Both teams got their offenses going in the first inning, and shortstop Ruben Tejada homered for Panama to make it 1-0.

The United States responded with a four-run bottom half of the first. Ryan Ward knocked in both Matt Shaw and Luke Ritter. Ward scored later in the inning, thanks to Justin Crawford getting walked with the bases loaded. Drake Baldwin grounded out with the bases loaded. However, Colby Thomas scored on the play. This gave the United States a 4-1 lead.

Ward did more damage in the second inning as he launched a three-run home run deep to left field to make it 7-1.

In the fifth inning, Panama got their second home run of the game from Jhonny Santos, cutting into the United States lead, making it 7-2. They homered again in the sixth inning as Rodrigo Orozco hit one to right center field to make it 7-3.

However, the United States got those two runs back in the seventh inning. Chandler Simpson recorded a two RBI hit to make it 9-3.

The United States pitching was great in the game as starter Touki Toussaint threw five strikeouts and allowed just one run. Relievers Dan Altavilla, Spencer Patton, and Zane Mills all contributed to finishing off the final three innings of the game, allowing no runs.

The United States and Panama both get the day off and will be back in action on Thursday, Nov. 14. Panama will play Puerto Rico in Tepic at Coloso Del Pacifico, with the first pitch scheduled for 9 p.m. E.T. The United States will play Mexico in Guadalajara at Estadio Panamericano with the first pitch also scheduled for 9 p.m. E.T.
