Thomas Hatch Signs With Doosan Bears of KBO

The Doosan Bears announced the signing of former MLB pitcher Thomas Hatch to a 1-year/$1 million deal. The $1 million deal, consisting of a $200K signing bonus and an $800K base salary, is the maximum allowed for a first-year, foreign-born player.

A 2016 third-round pick by the Chicago Cubs, Hatch pitched four seasons in the MLB with the Toronto Blue Jays and Pittsburgh Pirates, compiling a 4-4 record and a 4.96 ERA. His best season came as a rookie in 2020, as he helped the club reach the postseason by posting a 2.73 ERA in 17 appearances. The 29-year-old Hatch spent the 2024 season with the Hiroshima Carp, posting a 3.53 ERA in 94.1 innings.

With the addition of Cole Irvin last week, the Bears have reached the limit of foreign-born players on their roster. Irvin and Hatch will look to help the Bears improve on a 74-68 fourth-place record in 2024.
