The second edition of the Titanes del Caribe, which will again pit two of the LIDOM’s top teams, the Aguilas Cibaenas and the Tigres del Licey, against each other, won’t play an inning in the house that Ruth built.
Dominican news website Record.com.do reported Tuesday that the two games scheduled for Yankee Stadium on November 8-9 have been cancelled.
With the primary tenant of Yankee Stadium, the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball, having reached the World Series, the availability of the big ballpark in the Bronx could not be guaranteed. An agreement to use the stadium had not yet been reached, and promoters told Record.com.do that all tickets that had already been sold for the two games at Yankee Stadium would be refunded.
The event’s promoters told Record.com.do that there is a possibility of playing a pair of exhibition games between the two teams in December at Miami’s loanDepot Park, though an agreement had not yet been reached.
At press time, the Titanes del Caribe game scheduled for November 10 at Citi Field, the home of MLB’s New York Mets, remains on the schedule.
