Perched atop the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico with a 29-15 record, the Tomateros de Culiacan are again the No. 1 team in the weekly World Baseball Network Winter Ball Poll, garnering all four first-place votes.
The poll, voted on by World Baseball Network writers who cover the winter leagues, ranks the top 10 teams across the four leagues that will send their individual champions to the 2025 Caribbean Series in Mexicali, Mexico in February.
Last week’s No. 1 team, the Bravos de Margarita of the Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional, fell to seventh in this week’s poll, and have gone 4-6 in their last 10 games and fallen to second in the LVBP.
Rising from sixth last week to second in this week’s poll, the Estrellas Orientales of LIDOM earned 31 points in the poll after going 7-3 through their last 10 games. Right behind the Estrellas in the poll are the Leones del Escogido, who lead the LIDOM with a 20-14 record and earned 30 points in the balloting.
Tied for fourth are the Naranjeros de Hermosillo of the LAMP, who’ve gone 8-2 in their last 10 games and are 7-2 in the second half of the season, and the Caneros de Los Mochis, who, like the Naranjeros, possess a 26-18 overall mark this season.
The Cardenales de Lara of the LVBP entered the poll this week at No. 6, having fone 8-2 in their last 10 games and improved to 22-17, putting them atop the league by half a game over the Bravos de Margarita.
At 19-15, the Tigres del Licey of LIDOM were ranked No. 8 this week, earning 11 votes. They’ve won four straight and are currently third in LIDOM.
The Agilas del Zulia (21-18) of the LVBP dropped to ninth this week, and the Indios de Mayaguez (10-7) of the LBPRC round out the poll in 10th.
